see ah, normally right, they will ask you to express, say, 3sinx +4cosx in the form of Rsin(x+@).
MUST DO THESE STEPS!:

3 sinx + 4 cos x = R sin (x + @)
3 sinx + 4 cos x = R sinxcos@ + Rcosxsin@

R = squareroot (3^2 + 4^2)
R = 5
tan @ = 4/3
@ = ____

then can 3sinx + 4cos x = 5 sin (x + __)
